|
|
For a new player who is trying to follow the route that everyone seems to know, it can be very difficult if you don't know where to move next. This thread is to explain the usual route that we have come to take. If you know where the team is heading next, it would help you a lot.
The numbers shown below are the order in which the team should move.
Point 1
Point 1 is the place below the diamond park where the team assembles at the start for wave 1. Before wave 1 starts you have a very short time to look for items. If your move speed is slow, you should get to Point 1 straight away and meet the team. At this place the team kills the Wave 1 zombies and triggers Wave 2. Once wave 2 begins, the team needs to begin moving. As the green line indicates, move to Point 2.
Point 2
As the team moves, no one should be trying to kill any more zombies. Wave 3 should not be triggered until much further. One Abomination (fat) spawns in Wave 2 so it should be somewhere on the map by now. Depending on where it spawned, the team may run into on the way. If this happens, the team should go past it. It should be easy because the fat is very slow and the road is wide. People who have gotten past it should help lure it away from the people who have not. Move to Point X.
Point X
Point X is the place where most items are dropped off, because Point X is used as the base for later in the game. After wave 10, Point Y is the base but for now drop everything that is not needed at Point X. Free up as much inventory slots as possible so you can collect more items. The team will now move around the outer circle of the map to collect equipment. Move to Point 3.
Point 3
At this point, if the Abomination has not been met, it should be somewhere behind the team. Wave 3 should not be triggered just yet. Keep going on to Point 4.
Point 4
This is the place where the team holds position to kill zombies behind them and trigger Wave 3. If Wave 3 was already triggered, the team is behind the schedule and should keep moving. Before Wave 3 is triggered, the Abomination might have caught up. If it appears, then the team begins moving and lets the Demolitions blow it up. After it is dead, make sure you trigger Wave 3.
Point 5
The team should be on moving during this point. It is normally the start of Wave 3 and some air enemies (gargoyles) will be coming this wave. Make sure you shoot at them and take them down as soon as possible.
Point 6
There should be zombies behind you. Keep moving and do not trigger Wave 4. You will also run into more zombies ahead of you, the ones that spawned on the left side of the map. Kill them and keep moving so you don't get surrounded by zombies behind the team. Be careful of the trees that block your view in this area. Keep helping the team to collect equipment and keep moving.
Point 7
Keep moving past this point and keep collecting the equipment. Continue moving in this outer circle of the map. Move north now onto point 8. Not time to trigger Wave 4 yet.
Point 8
This is the point where the team should trigger Wave 4. If Wave 4 has not begun, hold in Point 8 and kill the zombies until Wave 4 is triggered. Once it is triggered, move to Point 9 Wave 4 has no significant enemies except for Lyganesh which is a bigger fat. If you run into it, once again just go past it and continue.
Point 9
Keep picking up items along the way. Do not stop to kill zombies. Move to Point 10.
Point 10
Wave 5 should not be triggered. Keep on moving, if some players have killed too many zombies, Wave 5 may start. If this happens, stay very close to the team because a Devourer that is very dangerous spawns on Wave 5.
Point 11
By now the team's inventory should be pretty full. If you find more items than you can hold, you can ask for which items are more important to keep. Keep moving through the small alley to Point Y.
Point Y
Point Y is the base that we use after Wave 10. So when you go pass you may drop some items such as Medkits, Fibrin Bandages and Anti Venom here that will be needed after Wave 10. But drop them quickly and go down to Point X. The team assembles at Point X and you can drop items there too.
Point X
Trigger Wave 5 at Point X. Once Wave 5 begins, move down to Point 12 as we begin to scout the Inner circle of the town for equipment. You should have freed up most of your inventory by dropping items in base. While you are trying to trigger Wave 5 at Point X, the Lyganesh that from wave 4 may have caught up to the team. If it comes, just start moving down and let the Demolitions kill it.
Point 12
Keep collecting equipment. You will meet a few dogs along the way. Do not stop, otherwise you will be surrounded by zombies behind the team and the zombies in front of the team. Do not trigger Wave 6 yet.
Point 13
Keep moving to Point 14. The team should run into more zombies in front. Take them out as soon as possible so that the zombies behind do not catch up and surround the team.
Point 14
Move to Point 15 fast as a team because you are going back north now instead of south. The zombies that were chasing you came FROM north so if you stop, you will only get zombies in your path.
Point 15
Once you get to Point 15 it should be safer now because there are no more trees that block your vision. Now head back to Point X. Along the way to Point X, Wave 6 should be triggered. Choose somewhere that is open with good vision like Point 2 which you will go past. This is because a few air enemies and a couple of Devourers spawn in Wave 6. The gargoyles will fly to the team pretty fast once Wave 6 begins.
Point X
Now stay in Point X. A HP recon may recon around for items as the rest of the team now waits at Point X. If the Lyganesh from Wave 4 was not killed, it will catch up to the team eventually now. If this happens, the team usually moves up to Point Y to give the Demolitions space to blow up Lyganesh. Once it is dead move back to Point X.
You will trigger Wave 7 and Wave 8 at Point X.
In Wave 7 there is a big dog called 'Etahaphen'. It should not be too hard to take down if there is good firepower. But before it gets to the team it is usually RPGed by the Demolitions anyway.
In Wave 8 there are more Gargolyes, so do not stray away from team or once Wave 8 starts Gargolyes will fly to you. There is one big Gargolye called Loki in Wave 8 which deals very big splash damage. So prepare for Loki by not standing too close together, go to the 4 lamp posts to make more space. You may also put road flares around the corners so that the team can see and shoot down Loki as soon as possible.
Wait at Point X for Wave 9 to be triggered, where many fats will spawn in the map. At the start of Wave 9, the 'Shiva' weapon is dropped randomly on the map, make sure you see where it is. Wait for about 1 minute at Point X and you should already have at least one fat approaching the team. In this standard route, the fats in Wave 9 are lured together and nuked with the Shiva. So when the first fat approaches, the team now moves and begins luring the fats.
If an Abomination manages to come to the team very soon after Wave 9 starts, Demolitions should kill that Abomination and the team continue waiting at Point X, and lure when the next fat approaches.
The route for luring and after is in the next post. |

Luring the Fats
One or two members of the team lures the fats in order to nuke them using the Shiva. The Demolitions is a good choice to lure because he can blow up all the zombies when he is luring to save the team's ammo. One person should also be appointed to pick up the Shiva, the Recon is a good choice.
The team waits for the first or second fat at Point X, and once they see it they begin luring. Now whoever is not luring should begin moving. They move ahead of the lurer and leave him behind with the fats. They should move up and right to Point 1 and keep going through all the points to Point 9 and then back at Point X. There they wait for the lurer to shoot the Shiva and come back.
The Lurer
The Lurer should also follow in the path outlined by the Points up until Point 4. He should keep checking to make sure that the fat is on him. When he gets to Point 4, the fats from the left side of the map should now be nearby. Go down to Point 5. Make sure that the fats are on you, the lurer and not someone else. You can lower your HP by getting hit by a zombie or fat, or hurting yourself using the edge of the Grenade Launcher blast. Now at Point 5, you should see the fats walking after you. Lure them around the big park area and circle back to Point 4. You will have time to do one more circle, to Point 5, and 6. After that you need to go up to base, towards Point X in base.
The Shiva should have been picked up by the Recon or whoever was getting it and dropped for you on your path towards base. Pick it up and shiva the fats behind you and go to base. Once the fats are killed Wave 10 will begin.
The Person Getting the Shiva
The person who is getting the Shiva for the team should make sure they leave any Heavy Weapon like LAW Rocket Launcher or Black Arrow at base because you cannot carry Shiva and that at the same time. He should follow the team along the route outlined. Do not separate from the team until at least Point 5.
After Shiva is used to kill the fats, the team should be already assembled at Point X again, because once the fats are dead, Wave 10 begins. Read below for what to do from Wave 10. |

As the map above shows, there is the upper base that will be used for Wave 11 to 14, and a base for Wave 15.
Stay at Point X to hold out Wave 10, where there will be many dangerous dogs coming at the team. Firepower is very important during this.
Before Wave 11 starts, the Demolitions should have set up 'walls' of chain explosives between Point X and the Wave 11 Base. Each wall should have a detonator on it.
Once Wave 11 begins, the team needs to move up to the 'Wave 11-14 Base' and get ready for the rush of dogs. Someone should put Road Flares at Point X so that Demolitions can see the dogs coming from below and detonate when the dogs are on it. Which dogs are needed to be blown up by the walls of chain explosives?
On Wave 11 there are 3 'boss' dogs. A red one called Mario, a yellow one called Luigi, and a brown reviving dog called Mrit. These 3 need to be blown up by the walls. Mrit will revive random number of times. After Mario and Luigi are dead, often the team moves right towards 'Point 1' to give space for Demolitions to keep blowing up Mrit.
Before Wave 12 starts, the team needs to be back at the Base because a worse dog dog called Thanatos spawns. The demolition should prepare a wall of 7 Chain Explosives. Thanatos should come from the south, where Point X is. It can also come from that alley left of the base, depending on where it spawns.
Wave 13 consists of many Gargoyles at the beginning, stay together with the team and take them down. After the Gargoyles, the team can try to save ammo by moving right towards 'Point 1' and let the Demolitions blow up some zombies.
Wave 14 spawns another Mrit. During this wave, pick up as much supplies as you can from the base because you will be moving to the Indoor base on Wave 15. Demolitions should prepare 2 walls outside the Wave 15 base for the 2 Hellspawns. A Thanatos also comes again on Wave 15. Items should be moved into the Inner Wave 15 base when things are safe.
Wave 15
Go inside the Wave 15 base and get back to the wall. Someone should Road Flare the outside before getting in. Without Road Flaring you won't be able to see the outside and Demolitions won't know when to blow up the walls for Hellspawns. In this wave many powerful dogs will be coming.
Evacuation
After the 2 Hellspawns are blown up, and things are 'more' quiet. You can slowly head out to the Evacuation point. The Evacuation point is pinged on the Minimap. Stay very close as a team. If people start running ahead or stay behind, there will be no firepower to kill the many incoming dogs. If the Evacuation Point is too far, you can choose to go to the Docks at the bottom right corner of the town. After the Evacuation timer runs out, you will be able to evacuate at the Docks by entering a submarine.
That's when the dogs evolve and start swimming towards your submarine... |

Really nice work there Hayao to help with new players.
If I may comment on something though. On wave 9, I prefer to use the next alley to the right concerning team return to the base. The reason I do this is because there is a (quite rare if I may add) chance that evils may wander around in the centre.
Even if there are no casualties, chances are that if such an encounter does occur, there will be at least one heavily wounded marine. The marine's wounds could really throw off the abo luring and destroy the team's effort. |

Agree with greek. Furthermore, by taking the route that the lure will be using to get back to base, the lure will be safe from evils lurking around that area. |

note to all firebats:
Do not go through the middle of the map ALONE on wave 9, bat is nearly helpless against evils because of his poor range. Evils from wave 8 tend to accumulate in the center of the map. _________________ NotD2:LtCol
